This landscape quilt was inspired by the meadows around my farm. I love the black-eyed Susan that are growing wild in the fields during the summer. The background was pieced with fringed muslin, upholstery fabrics and lace for texture. I then painted the landscape with carefully chosen colors. Next, I stitched the foliage, stems and weeds into place. To create the flowers, I used an especially long free motion stitch to create the petals and topped those off with the familiar black eyes. Organza fabric was shaped into Queens Ann’s Lace providing the piece more depth and dimension. This landscape is inspired by artist Wendy Dolan. I hope you’ll enjoy this little slice of the country in your home. This piece of mounted in a black wood frame and measures 11 x 14 inches.
